After we'd had about an hour of being alone - just the three of us - the childrens nurse returned to wash, measure and weigh baby.
I would have loved to just lay there with baby forever but I'll admit that I was rather curious to see our baby completely. As baby
was taken away from my warm body, he started to whimper and my heart was breaking, since a newborns mothers strongest instict is to
fiercly protect her infant. But baby was in good hands, the childrens nurse was very kind and gentle and Esa and I went to see was
going to be done to him.

Baby's first wash
As the nurse unravelled baby from the towels I gasped slightly - this baby was surely the most beautiful, perfect
precious baby I'd ever seen. Not only did he have 8 fingers, 2 thumbs and 10 toes - but all of his little parts and facial features were
absolutley gorgeous!!! I know, I know - all mommies feel this way about their babies :-))). Nature has planned everything quite ingeniously
eh?
The first thing the nurse did was wash him. He looked weird hanging there, like a limp plump piece of rubber. She did it all so
easily, although I know how hard it is - especially since newborn babies are very slippery and hard to hold onto. I was totally in love
with this baby and was enjoying every second of watching him being "prepared".
* Last time everything was rushed. While I lay in bed to be sewn etc, baby was being washed and weighed, so I
never got to see this sort of thing. :-(((

Baby's head being measured
I don't quite remember all that was done to baby, but after being washed, the measuring and weighing began. Baby didn't like this part one bit :-).
