One of the things that has delighted me about UO is that it enables anyone to do just about anything they can
dream up. UO simply provides the setting, tools and characters, the rest is up to ones imagination. Some are
heroic knights helping those in need, others are thieves, merchants, interior decorators, kings or queens. Just to name
a few. I became a landlady. I was intrigued with throwing together a bunch of people that have never met, having them
live in my house, furnish their own rooms, and watch how the relationships evolved. Sort of like being the director of
the "Real World" show :-). So far it has been much more rewarding
than I was expecting. What a gift - to be able to bring people together and witness possibly life long bonds and
friendships being formed! And how cute it feels to return to ones house and find that there is almost always someone
home, sitting around in the chairs you built, using facilities that you created. I guess it is something like
building a really nice dollhouse, except that the little dolls living in it are alive and leading their own
independant lives.

The idea came about after I had successfully placed two castles during house placement in the summer of 2000.
The Trinsic castle was in a frequently visited area so it would definitely become the new Big Mamas Shoppe. The Vesper castle
was then again in a very peaceful quiet area, situated on it's own peninsula right by the sea. There were ample fishing
waters and forests nearby with no monster spawn, perfect for chopping wood. It was the perfect place for living.
But it would be lonely living there alone, and I had no interest in forming a guild, thus the idea of an apartment building
formed in my mind. Each corner room was the size and shape of a small house, so they would make perfect
apartments. The more I thought about it, the more excited I got and I started to plan it all out.

The next several months I spent furnishing the castle and if I remember right, the first room I made was the
Finnish Sauna. It was simply a must. The months rolled on and I was never satisfied, always tweaking some
part of the castle until it was finally ready.
